Enabling payment-led loyalty
The main steps in enabling payment-led loyalty are to let customers register cards, recognize cards in-store (terminal creates token), send receipts to Liquid Barcodes, and process receipts. These steps are shown from left to right in the above illustration.
3 options
There are three main methods for sending receipts to Liquid Barcodes:
- POS sends payment token and receipt to Liquid Barcodes (A in the above illustration)
- POS sends token and receipt ID to Liquid Barcodes, Liquid Barcodes gets a receipt from receipt database (B)
- Terminal sends token and receipt ID to Liquid Barcodes, Liquid Barcodes gets a receipt from receipt database (C)
For all three options, customers can register cards in-app or terminal. The terminal must create a non-payment token. When the customer inserts a card or taps a card or phone to pay, the terminal creates a token and a receipt is sent to Liquid Barcodes using the path that best fits with your IT architecture.
Advanced POS integration
Option A is the most popular option when using Advanced POS integration. Rich communication has already been established between Liquid Barcodes and POS. Non-payment tokens and receipts are added to this communication.
Basic POS integration
All three options are potential solutions. The preferred solution depends on your existing IT infrastructure.
